There are lots of blogs in this vast web of world-wide wordage. I’ve wondered more than once if the world really needs another. After a while, all these words tend to make me numb.
But people are talking about some pretty big words: Goodness. Love. Strength. Peace. Truth.
Why are people talking about them? Because those words are exactly what we are searching for – within ourselves. Within other people. Within the universe.
So, we build the words up. With more words. Pithy phrases. Poetic flourishes. Emotional overtones.
How we love the sound of the words! Our hearts soar and our eyes tear at the sound of… Such. Beautiful. Words.
Meanwhile, ugliness snickers. Ugliness knows that our teary eyes are blinding us to something essential:
even the most eloquent talking cannot make the words come to life.
All those words? They’re just chatter.
And we don’t need more chatter.
We need a hero.
Ugliness keeps us bound and gagged. It doesn’t let us anywhere near those words.
But The Hero can set us free.
And when he does, he makes us like him. And those words that once we could not even touch come alive in us. Because he IS the words.
So, amidst all the words, allow me to name The Hero.
He is Jesus.
Without him, the words are just chatter.
